HOW TO MAKE TIME PASS FASTER WHEN YOU’RE IN STAND STILL TRAFFIC

WHAT YOU CAN DO WHILE STUCK IN TRAFFIC

We all have our own opinions, and sometimes those opinions can divide us as humans. But one opinion we can harmoniously agree upon is on traffic. It’s the worst, and everyone hates it.  If you could only teleport.

You just sit there. You feel like you’re in a steel trap, and time is wasting away. But, time spent in traffic doesn’t necessarily have to be wasted. You can be productive and even mark some items off your to do list while you’re in your car. Here are some things you can do when you suddenly see those dreaded brake lights on the freeway and you know you’re going to get home a little later than usual:

FIND A PODCAST OR AN AUDIOBOOK

Got that book on your nightstand you’ve wanted to read for the past six months? Now’s a great time. Depending on your commute or where you’re traveling, you can easily listen to a book in a week via audiobooks.

Maybe a book’s not up your alley? Try out a podcast that sparks your interest. There’s a podcast on just about every subject out there. Discover your new favorite podcast and before you know it, you’ll be parked in your driveway listening to it till the end.

LISTEN TO THE NEWS

We all know it’s important to know what’s going on in the world, but sometimes, reading all about it online can get mind numbing.

Instead, you can stream your favorite news station live or find a local station on the radio. You don’t have to listen to it the whole drive, but you can at least get little bites of it so the next time someone asks you what you think on the latest political divide or crazy news story, you have an opinion ready to fire.

CALL A RELATIVE

This is the ideal time to call that relative who always wants to talk, but you only call because, well, it’s family. Take this time to get that monthly or weekly call out of the way. The best part is you can always pull the “I’m walking into the house, I gotta go” card, and end the call when you can’t take any more questions about your job and if you’ve found that special someone yet.

In this case, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Make sure you’re using hands-free calling, so you can keep both hands on the wheel.

DISCOVER A NEW ARTIST

Find the next up and coming artist before they hit mainstream. Listen to music outside of your comfort zone and use a music streaming app to click through and find your next favorite artist. If you don’t want to use your phone to continuously click away, add a Bluetooth control adapter to make for an easier and smoother ride.
